⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 A great new book by E A Purle

Ed Purle has created a magical world of steam and gears where the Old world clashes with the New.

A world and characters that you very quickly believe in and invest in their adventure.Intrigue, adventure and just a touch of Pratchett absurdity have come together to make a really enjoyable read.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 A great book

I met the author at his stall at Bell’s Pumpkin Patch in October. The well-decorated stall and his fun character drew me in. Not only was I intrigued because I love books, and that I had been wanting to get back in to reading for a long time, but everything looked so exciting.

I took a particular note in the alchemy symbols on the front of his books as I always wanted to be the alchemist in my childhood games. He described the premise of the story very well and was immediately hooked, and allowed me to read the blurb. I purchased the first in the series: Firestone and I finished it within a week of starting it - reading it during the quiet spells at work. I was hooked.

He introduced the characters really well, and all of the main points in the story and the motifs worked really well and had such an amazing flow.

He has an absolutely amazing writing style. If you like things like lord of the rings but with a more modern touch, the Lore of Tellus books are definitely worth a read.

I would say they’re worth a read regardless of if you like LOTR or not! 11/10

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Strangely compelling

Well I read a review that want great saying nothing happens. And indeed the narrative is laborious in parts, dialogue bizarrely extrapolated and in the space of 480 pages nothing much appears to have happened.

Yet I find myself looking for the sequel on Amazon wondering what it is about this book that charmed me.

At first I thought E A Purle must be a children’s author or a late teen themselves, but maybe that youthfulness has translated into innocent and weirdly interesting story telling. Either way, I can’t give it 5 stars but I can’t go less than 4. Bizarre.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Firestone - Drew me in from page one

Loved the character Hugh and his friend Barrington. Quickly drawn into the story, which was easy reading, creating wonderful images of a world where packages were run through the streets and the post runners had right of way and everyone had to clear the way.

I met Ed and asked him whether I would be able to pass the book to my grandchildren, and he said yes it was suitable for all ages and it is. But I think I will read it again before I start book 2 of the series.

Really enjoyed it and can't wait to get the next instalment

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 A very fun book full of unique gadgets, runes and steampunk style vehicles

A great book with themes of steampunk and alchemy, the main duo travel through many unique cities each with its own systems and gadgets. I had a lot of fun exploring the world of Tellus.
